Golspie Beach

Golspie, Sutherland · KW10 6TF

Long sand-and-shingle beach on the NC500 where collectors find plentiful, very small sea glass ideal for jewellery.

About Golspie Beach

Golspie's beach is a long, gently sloping stretch of sand and shingle on the east Sutherland coast, on the North Coast 500 route. The NC500's own sea glass article names it as one of the beaches where the writer found some of their more interesting pieces. Expect small fragments rather than chunky glass.

Sea glass at Golspie Beach

Plentiful but tiny fragments in white, green and seafoam, good for jewellery. Search after stormy weather.

Visiting Golspie Beach

Safety
Check the tide times before you go and head out on a falling tide, so you're never cut off. Keep away from the bottom of cliffs, wear sturdy shoes on rocks, and only take sea glass and other man-made rubbish: pebbles, sand and shells should stay on the beach.
