Rapparee Cove

Ilfracombe, Devon · EX34 9FQ

A small, quiet cove just east of Ilfracombe harbour, reached by steep steps and recommended for sea glass.

About Rapparee Cove

Rapparee Cove is a sheltered pebbly cove a short walk from Ilfracombe harbour. Both Ilfracombe's own tourism site and a North Devon beach blog single it out for sea glass, and finds are best after a storm.

Sea glass at Rapparee Cove

Sea glass, shells and other tide-washed finds; storms bring in more glass. No colours are named.

Visiting Rapparee Cove

Getting there
From Ilfracombe Harbour, walk away from the town, up through the car park and down the steps; about 20 minutes (Flip Flops or Wellies).
Safety
Check the tide times before you go and head out on a falling tide, so you're never cut off. Keep away from the bottom of cliffs, wear sturdy shoes on rocks, and only take sea glass and other man-made rubbish: pebbles, sand and shells should stay on the beach.
