Stranraer Bay

Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway · DG9 7LR

Stranraer's waterfront on Loch Ryan, where scattered sea glass turns up along with plenty of old pottery from local dairies.

About Stranraer Bay

The shore along Stranraer's seafront at the head of Loch Ryan is rocky with small coves, and an easy walk from the town. It isn't a big sea glass beach, but a collector reports pieces scattered all along the waterfront and lots of sea pottery.

Sea glass at Stranraer Bay

A few scattered pieces of white, green and amber glass along the whole waterfront, plus a lot of nice pottery pieces from old local dairies.

Visiting Stranraer Bay

Safety
Check the tide times before you go and head out on a falling tide, so you're never cut off. Keep away from the bottom of cliffs, wear sturdy shoes on rocks, and only take sea glass and other man-made rubbish: pebbles, sand and shells should stay on the beach.
