Stonehaven Beach

Stonehaven, Aberdeenshire · AB39 2NZ

Sand-and-shingle resort beach where lots of small pieces of sea glass gather among the pebbles.

About Stonehaven Beach

Stonehaven's bay is a mix of sand and pebble, running along the front of the Aberdeenshire harbour town. Several collectors and a local jewellery maker report finding plenty of small sea glass mixed into the stones. It is a good family beach rather than a place for big chunks.

Lots of small pieces in common colours (green, white, amber) tucked among the pebbles and small stones.

Visiting Stonehaven Beach

Safety
Check the tide times before you go and head out on a falling tide, so you're never cut off. Keep away from the bottom of cliffs, wear sturdy shoes on rocks, and only take sea glass and other man-made rubbish: pebbles, sand and shells should stay on the beach.
