Blast Beach
Seaham's quieter, wilder neighbour south of the harbour, sharing the same Victorian bottleworks glass with far fewer hunters.
Easington Colliery beach lies on a quieter stretch of the Durham Heritage Coast south of Seaham, below the site of the former colliery. Once blackened by coal waste, it is now a rocky beach reached down cliff steps. Collectors say it sees far fewer people than Seaham.
White, seafoam, green and aqua, with regulars reporting thick, well-tumbled pieces. At low tide you can walk north to Shippersea Bay for striped multicoloured slag glass, but the far ends get cut off around high water.
