Crosby is still the best beach we've searched in the North West, so here's how our day went in case it helps anyone planning a trip.
We went in mid-April and arrived around midday, about an hour after high tide, and spent the best part of four hours there.
We started near Crosby Leisure Centre (free parking there, and free toilets inside). When a coastguard warned us about the incoming tide, we drove round to the main entrance by the Coastguard Station instead. That turned out to be the best spot: just east of the main ramp there's a big area of rocks and old bricks, and the glass hides between and underneath them. Move the rocks and look underneath, and wear good shoes.
We came home with over 200 pieces. Most were clear, green or brown, with plenty of safety glass and sea pottery too. Rarer colours were rare, but we did find black (pirate), orange, yellow and blue.
Parking by the Coastguard Station was paid when we went (about £3 for four hours), but check the current prices.
Anyone been lately? Is the rocky area by the Coastguard Station still as good?
