Seaham in November: our trip report

We visited Seaham on 18 November 2024, expecting it to be quiet given the cold snap. Wrong! There were around 20 other hunters out on the shoreline even at 1°C.

We got there at about 12:30, which was a bit late: the tide had been out for a few hours and was already on its way back in. In about two hours we found 100 pieces (350 grams), including:
    - more than 10 pieces of yellow
    - five pieces of light blue
    - one rare red piece
    - one large dark blue piece, our find of the day. Funnily enough we found it on the path above the beach rather than on the beach itself.

    Tips if you're heading there:
    - Stick to the shingle rather than the sand or rocks.
    - Stop, dig and sift, rather than just walking. A small trowel and a bag help.
    - Manage your expectations: the beach isn't carpeted in glass, and most pieces are small (around the size of a pill), but they're beautifully frosted.
    - Wear layers. The North East can be bitter in late autumn.

Has anyone been recently? We'd love to know how it's been.
